Lending System

The Library Management computer system is called Eclipse. Everything is run by the computer. There are no library tickets or card indexes. The only manual process is when the item is date-stamped.

Borrowers are identified using "Identikit Registration" which uses an electronic fingerprint scanner. Usually the right thumb is used for identification.

Books are issued for a maximum of three weeks. This period is modified on the run-up to end of term. DVDs and videos are issued for three working days. When borrowers keep their books, DVDs or videos beyond the date-stamped, overdue letters are issued.

Anybody in the school can search the School Library Catalogue using a piece of software called "SearchStar". This can be accessed by clicking on the "Catalogue Search" link on the Library's intranet homepage. Access to your own personal library data is possible using "My Account". The librarian will tell you your pin number.

Users wishing to borrow an item which is out on loan may reserve that item. Pupils will be informed of its availability in writing via their form tutor. Items may be renewed a maximum of two times.
