About the Library

Students may borrow up to 2 books which are issued for 3 weeks and these may be renewed up to 3 times. The Library also has a collection of DVDs which may be borrowed for 3 days. Items may be reserved at the library desk if the book required is on loan. All items are issued by using a fingerprint scanner. During the lunch break, students are able to use the computers for a 15 minute session which is booked at the library desk. Laptops are available during lesson time. The Library also holds a selection of e-resources which may be accessed anywhere in school or from home via the library management system Eclipse.

The Library stocks both fiction and non-fiction resources which support the curriculum and Mrs South the librarian is available to help with student enquiries. Fiction books are arranged alphabetically by the author’s surname. Non-fiction books are grouped according to subject using the Dewey Decimal classification system. The Library provides students with themed reading lists and ‘reading for pleasure’ is a key focus and throughout the school year there are reading activities and competitions aimed at improving literacy.
